What is Toenail Fungus?
Have you started noticing a change in the color and texture of your toenail? If so, it may indicate that you have a nail fungal infection. At Mountain Med Spa in Denver, CO, Dr. Rock Navarkal can diagnose and perform laser nail fungus treatment that helps eliminate the infection. Commonly known as onychomycosis, toenail fungus is difficult to treat with at-home treatments, like antifungal ointments or over-the-counter medicines. If you have tried to get rid of a toenail fungal infection but nothing has helped, you may need professional treatment to get rid of the symptoms. We encourage you to schedule a consultation to see if Harmony XL Pro toenail laser treatment is right for you.

Is Laser Nail Fungus Treatment For You?
We recommend scheduling an appointment if you are worried about the appearance or changes in the condition of your toenails. If you suffer from a toenail fungal infection, you may have certain symptoms, including discoloration, ridges or bumps, brittleness, or redness on or near your nail bed. It may also create pain in your nails, which could cause discomfort when wearing shoes. Toenail fungus has other symptoms that may indicate you have a problem, including:
- A stinky odor
- A yellow-looking color
- A thickened nail that is difficult to trim
If your toenails have symptoms of a fungal infection, we will develop a treatment plan that can help stop the condition. The treatment plan will outline your cosmetic goals, the number of treatments, when to schedule follow-ups, and the cost.
What to Expect
At the beginning of your appointment, we start by cleaning the nail bed and toenail. Because the treatment causes little discomfort, you should not need a numbing cream. Once we have prepped the treatment area, the laser is gently passed over each infected nail. Generally, the treatment takes about ten minutes for each nail. After your appointment, we may prescribe an antifungal medication or topical ointment.
Because the toenail needs time to heal from the infection, you may not see immediate results after your initial session. Typically, many patients require 2 – 3 laser appointments before seeing improvements. It may take a little time, but the toenail will start to grow back healthy. Additionally, this treatment does not prevent new toenail fungus infections so it’s important to practice good preventive measures. To maintain your results, we recommend changing your socks each day, having footwear that is breathable, keeping your nails trimmed, and applying foot powder.
